WWE SummerSlam Results, August 17  17 Aug 2014 / By  Kr Anubhav Jha Pre-Show: The 2014 WWE SummerSlam Kickoff pre-show kicks off with Renee Young, Booker T, Alex Riley and Ric Flair on the panel, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. They talk about some of tonight's matches. Flair says he's looking forward to seeing Randy Orton define himself as the best wrestler alive. They talk about Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena. Booker can't call a winner. Riley says if Lesnar wins, it won't be good for the WWE Universe. They talk about Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon now and we get a video package. - We come back and get some more talk before going to JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler at ringside. Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro We go to the ring and out come Rob Van Dam to a pop. Cesaro is out next to a nice reaction also. They lock up and trade holds. Cesaro slams RVD first. RVD comes back and catapults Cesaro across the ring. RVD with a kick in the corner. More back and forth, more problems with the PS3 and iPad streams. RVD leaps out to the floor but lands on his feet. Cesaro turns around to a big kick. RVD gets a pop and hits Rolling Thunder on the floor. RVD rolls Cesaro back in and goes to work with kicks in the corner. Cesaro with a thumb to the eye. Cesaro turns it around and beats RVD down in the corner now. Cesaro with a big gutwrench slam for a 2 count. Cesaro with more offense as we go to commercial. We come back and Cesaro has RVD down on the mat. RVD fights to his feet but Cesaro catches him in mid-air with a big knee to the spine and a 2 count. Cesaro looks to go for Rolling Thunder, mocking RVD, but stomps on RVD's chest instead. Cesaro with a 2 count. Cesaro with another headlock now. RVD comes back with clotheslines. Cesaro counters a kick but RVD turns it into a leg scissors for a 2 count. RVD drops Cesaro with a kick. RVD with a split legged moonsault for another pin. RVD sends Cesaro to the floor with a thrust kick. VD moonsaults from the apron out onto Cesaro. RVD goes to the top but Cesaro knocks him off his feet with a big uppercut. Cesaro climbs up for a superplex but RVD knocks him to the mat. RVD goes for the frogsplash but Cesaro hits another uppercut. Cesaro climbs back up but RVD sends him back to the mat. Once again Cesaro hits another uppercut. RVD shoves him to the mat once again. This time RVD leaps off into an uppercut for a 2 count. More back and forth. Cesaro with a running boot for a 2 count. RVD drops Cesaro with a kick to the face. RVD eventually goes back to the top and nails the Five Star frogsplash for the win. Winner: Rob Van Dam  - We go back to the panel for more hype. Renee has Jake "Mama's Boy" Tucker from the Totino's Bold Show Us Your Superstar contest that WWE has been running. We will hear more from him later Renee says. They talk about Orton vs. Reigns now. Flair praises Reigns but says Orton is the man today, the best wrestler in the world. Booker also goes with Orton. We get a promo for Lesnar vs. Cena and that's it for the pre-show. WWE SummerSlam Opener: The show opens with Justin Roberts introducing Hulk Hogan. Hogan makes his way out to a big pop from the crowd. Hogan’s got a mic in hand, and he wants to tell the Hulkamaniacs something. He can’t think of a better way to kick off SummerSlam that with Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Tonight is a night of great proportions, where dreams are made. Where mortal can become immortal, and people can etch their names in the history books. Hogan says if you’re not in Los Angeles, he knows you’re watching the broadcast on the WWE Network. And he doesn’t care where in the world you are, or what you’re doing, he knows what you paid. 9.99. Not only do you get to watch SummerSlam, he rattles off some of the other shows you get with your subscriptions, hitting the 9.99 price point again. Hogan asks what you’re gonna do when the Network, Hogan, and SummerSlam run wild on you. - We cut to a video package cut together like a faux movie trailer with various WWE SuperStars in starring roles. It’s similar to other SummerSlam video packages put together in the past, and highlights some of the main feuds heading into the show tonight. It’s nice that more matches than simply the top two get a little screen time in the opening video package this go around. - The pyro hits and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show. The lights go out, and Miz’s music hits. Miz makes his way out with a mic in hand to a bit of heat from the crowd. Miz says this Summer is dominated by talking robots and ninja turtles, but tonight the fans are here with a non-CGI movie star. A man with something everyone in this town wishes they had. Miz points to his face and says ‘the moneymaker. He says he’ll make Dolph Ziggler go from a bright, shiny star, into a miserable failure, basically the WWE version of the Lakers. Dolph Ziggler is out next, and the show-off gets a nice reception from the fans in attendance. Ziggler tells the fans that he hears them. WWE Intercontinental Championship Match The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler The bell rings, and Miz finally takes off his sunglasses. We get a lock up, and Miz goes behind Ziggler. Miz transitions into a headlock, and is pushed off, coming back with a shoulderblock. Both Miz and Ziggler can’t connect with a hip toss, but Ziggler is able to roll Miz up for two, two times in a row. Miz rolls to the outside to collect himself. Miz heads back into the ring and Dolph connects with the Thesz press. Miz bails to the outside, but Ziggler is right there, connecting with a clothesline. Dolph brings things back into the ring and gets another roll up for two. Dolph hits Miz’s back, then chest with a big chop, but Miz is able to launch Dolph chest first into the corner, hard. Miz stands first and begins stomping on Dolph’s head and body. He backs up and hits Dolph with a running kick to the chest that puts Dolph down for two. Miz mounts Dolph and clamps on a rear chin lock. Dolph fights up to his feet and out of the hold, but runs right into a big boot from Miz. Miz hits his running corner clothesline, then heads to the top rope. Miz leaps off the top, but runs right into a shot to the gut from Ziggler. Miz crumples to the mat and that allows Ziggler to catch his breath. Ziggler pulls himself to his feet and ducks a clothesline, scoring with a couple clotheslines of his own. Ziggler hits a splash in the corner, and follows up with a neckbreaker for two. Ziggler goes for the rocker dropper, but Miz avoids it. Miz tosses Ziggler over the top, but Ziggler skins the cat and rolls Miz up for two. Miz tries for the SCF, but Ziggler avoids it. Miz tries for the figure four, but Ziggler fights it off. Ziggler stands and hits Miz with a big superkick that’s good for another two count. Miz bails to the floor and grabs his title, but Ziggler hits a missile dropkick to stop him in his tracks. Back in the ring, Miz catches Ziggler with a surprise kick, that sets him up perfectly for the figure four. Ziggler screams in pain as Miz wrenches back on the hold. Ziggler reaches, but Miz pulls him back into the center of the ring. Ziggler falls to his back for a two count. Ziggler struggles to reach for the ropes again, grabbing hold this time, and forcing the break. Ziggler kicks Miz away and hits the rocker dropper, but Miz counters right away with a skull crushing finale. Miz pins Ziggler, but Ziggler kicks out at two. Miz looks shocked as he staggers to his feet, arguing with the referee. Miz hits the ropes, but misses with a big kick. Ziggler pops up and hits the Zig Zag, pinning Miz for three. Winner and NEW WWE Intercontinental Champion: Dolph Ziggler Ziggler celebrates while Cole talks about how humiliating this is for Miz to have it happen in Hollywood. JBL says parties everywhere are cancelled tonight. Cole turns his attention to Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon. Cole discusses some of the recent events, including the recent accusations of an affair by Daniel Bryan, and both Brie and Stephanie having to go to jail for their actions. Backstage: Brie Bella is interviewed. She says unlike Stephanie McMahon, during her incarceration, Brie did a lot of reflecting. Before she was released and the charges were dropped, she sat and kept thinking about all the times Stephanie would smile when she called Daniel a B+ player, or tortured Nikki, or the time she paid Bryan’s physical therapist to stand in front of the world and lie. She knows Stephanie doesn’t put herself in this position often, but she’s put everyone at WWE through hell, and she’s going to put out that she-beast, because that’s what’s best for business. - Back in the arena, Paige makes her way down the aisle, skipping very similarly to AJ Lee. AJ Lee is out next, also skipping her way down to the ring. WWE Divas Championship Match AJ Lee vs. Paige The bell rings and Paige sticks her hand out to AJ. They shake, but AJ pulls in Paige’s hand and bites at her knuckles before pulling at her hair. Paige rolls out to the floor, pulling up a long big of hair ripped out by AJ. AJ comes in out of nowhere and slams Paige head first into the announcer’s table. Back in the ring, Paige surprises AJ, but AJ stops a knee to the chest on the apron, sending Paige to the floor. Paige stops a kick from AJ on the apron, getting AJ seated on her shoulders and dropping her chest first on the barricade. Paige brings things back into the ring, slowly covering Paige seductively, and hitting her with repeated head butts. Paige traps AJ in a rear chin lock, stroking AJ’s hair while keeping pressure applied. AJ fights to her feet, but is pulled back to the mat by her hair. Paige hits AJ with repeated knees to the face and takes things up in the corner. AJ fights Paige off in the corner and sends her crashing out to the floor. AJ stands on the top rope and leaps out to the floor, wiping out Paige. AJ brings things back into the ring and hits a sort-of shining wizard that’s good for a two count. AJ picks Paige up and she’s pushed away and kicked hard in the face. Paige picks AJ up and tries for the Paige turner, but AJ counters into the black widow. Paige is able to fight out of it, hitting a crazy suplex DDT, the Rampage. Paige pins AJ and gets the three count. Winner and NEW WWE Diva’s Champion Paige picks AJ up and hugs her from behind while she’s in a seated position before tossing her to the mat and skipping around with her newly won title. - Back in the arena after a quick commercial, it’s time for the flag match. Justin Roberts kind of explains why the flags are there, but not really the rules of the match. Rusev makes his way out to the ring first, waving the Russian flag, accompanied by Lana. Flag Match Rusev vs. Jack Swagger Lana grabs a mic when the get to the ring. She tells the fans to shut up. She says tonight, they dedicate this match to the world’s greatest reality star, and a true hero, Vladimir Putin. She says Hollywood represents everything wrong with America. It is a golden fantasy land, where you get to play heroes and there is always a happy ending. Well Rusev represents the cold hard fist of reality. In reality, your heroes are failing cowards, and there is no happy ending for the USA. At the entranceway, a color guard presenting the American flag marches their way out to the top of the ramp. Jack Swagger makes his way to the ring, with Zeb Coalter by his side. Swagger gets a pretty nice pop as he swings the flag on his way to the ring, being followed by Coalter and the color guard. Both men stand across the ring from each other with their manager, waving their flag. Of course Swagger gets a big pop. Rusev attacks Swagger, sending him to the mat. Swagger fights him off and hits a big boot. Swagger clamps on the patriot lock before being pulled off, since the match hasn’t started yet. Rusev struggles to get to his feet. Lana says Swagger cheated, so they don’t have to have a match. The bell rings, and Swagger attacks Rusev in the corner, burying his knee in Rusev’s midsection. Swagger wraps Rusev’s leg around the middle rope and kicks away at it. Rusev bails to the floor. Swagger is quick to bring things back into the ring, wrapping Rusev’s leg around the middle rope and wrenching back again. Rusev heads to the floor, but again, Swagger won’t let him break, sending him back into the ring. Rusev rolls right back out to the floor, and Swagger is out, hitting a big clothesline to wipe out Rusev on the floor. Swagger goes for the Swagger bomb, but Rusev blocks it with a shot to the ribs. Rusev limps over to Swagger and takes a couple of shots to the face, but puts Swagger down to the mat. Rusev tries to stomp on Swagger’s face, but stops when it hurts his ankle more. Rusev kicks Swagger in the back with his good leg. Rusev stomps on Swagger before dropping a head butt on Swagger’s shoulder. Rusev traps Swagger in a bear hug, squeezing the air out of Swagger’s lungs. Swagger is able to turn around in the hold, but Rusev sends him crashing back down to the mat. Rusev pulls Swagger up to his hands and knees before crashing down across Swagger’s back. Rusev stomps down on Swagger, screaming at the American representative. Rusev pulls Swagger up, and Swagger comes up with a belly to belly suplex. Swagger pulls himself to his feet and hits Rusev with a couple of rights. Swagger ducks a clothesline and comes up with one of his own. Swagger sends Rusev into the corner and hits him with a big boot to the face. Swagger runs in and hits the Swagger bomb out of the corner. Swagger goes for the pin, but only gets two. Swagger takes Rusev down to the mat, but he’s kicked away. Rusev hits an elbow, but gets caught when he goes for a kick. Swagger tries for the patriot lock, but Rusev kicks Swagger away. Swagger is able to slam Rusev down to the mat for a quick two count. Swagger hits Rusev with a big right, but eats a huge kick to the side from Rusev. Rusev stomps on Swagger’s back, but when he tries for the camel clutch, he can’t hold on to it because of his ankle. He clamps Swagger into a half camel clutch, going down to a knee on his injured side. Swagger is able to counter things into a patriot lock, pulling Rusev into the middle of the ring. Rusev screams in pain and tries to reach the ropes. Swagger pulls him in, but Rusev rolls to his back and is able to kick Swagger away. Rusev hits a giant spinning back kick, sending Swagger to the mat. Rusev hits the ropes and hits a big splash before locking in the camel clutch full-force in the middle of the ring. Swagger screams in pain, but begins to fade quickly. The ref calls for the bell and gets Rusev to break the hold. Winner by KO: Rusev Lana talks a bit of smack to Zeb while holding her hand over her heart. She backs away and says something to Rusev who kicks Zeb in the shoulder, sending him down to the mat. Justin Roberts says that in accordance with the rules of a flag match, they’ll now raise the winning side’s flag, and play their national anthem. The Russian national anthem plays as a giant Russian flag rises up from the floor. Rusev holds his flag high, while Swagger and Zeb are still laid out on the mat. - After another brief commercial, we turn our attention to the battle of former partners. We get a video package that highlights the events that led to the next match, from Seth Rollins betraying his partners in the Shield, to ‘selling out’ to the Authority and winning Money in the Bank, and Dean Ambrose’s quest to keep him from cashing in. Lumberjack Match Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose Back in the arena and lumberjacks are already surrounding the ring. Cole notes that almost all of them were victims of the former Shield. Seth Rollins makes his way out to the ring first, carrying his Money in the Bank briefcase. Rollins doesn’t get much of a reaction out of the fans in the crowd, though there are a couple of stare-downs as Rollins makes his way into the ring. Dean Ambrose is out next, making his way out to a little bit more of a pop than Rollins, but not much. Both men begin brawling as soon as the match begins. Ambrose takes Rollins into the corner and stomps away at him, standing on his throat before picking him up and tossing him across the ring. Lumberjacks keep Rollins from leaving the ring, and Ambrose clotheslines Rollins to the outside. Rollins is tossed right back in where Ambrose stomps down on Rollins’ gut before ripping away at his face. Ambrose chops Rollins’ chest before grinding his face across the top rope. Rollins kicks Ambrose before sending him to the floor. Ambrose fights off lumberjacks before heading back into the ring and going for Rollins. Rollins slams Ambrose’s face into the middle turnbuckle and tosses him to the floor. Lumberjacks assault Ambrose before sending him back into the ring where he’s mounted by Rollins for a series of punches. Rollins slams Ambrose to the mat and drops a knee on his face for a one count. Ambrose stands and punches away at Rollins. Rollins sends Ambrose into the corner, but he runs right into a big boot from Ambrose. Ambrose heads to the top, but he’s pushed down and hung up by Rollins. Rollins kicks at Ambrose’s face while Ambrose is hung up by his foot in the corner. Rollins clamps on a choke hold, but Ambrose is able to fight up to his feet. Ambrose ducks a clothesline and connects with a big forearm, then another. Ambrose misses a diving forearm and roll to the apron, but he backs away a couple of lumberjacks. Ambrose suplexes Rollins from the ring to the outside on top of a group of lumberjacks. Ambrose and Rollins fight on the outside with a mass of lumberjacks, with everyone seeming to get involved. Ambrose backdrops Rollins out into the crowd, but he’s pulled back into the ring by the lumberjacks. Ambrose dives to the outside to wipe out the lumberjacks, then leaps up on the announcer’s table, and into the timekeeper’s area to wipe out Bo Dallas and Kofi Kingston. Ambrose chases down Rollins in the crowd and begins brawling with him. Ambrose and Rollins begin brawling in the stands, working their way up the arena steps. Kane stalks his way down to the ring and begins yelling at the lumberjacks. Rollins and Ambrose are fighting way up in the stands. Rollins tries for a powerbomb, but Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel are in the stands to pull Ambrose back down to the ring. Rollins works his way down another staircase, beating down Sin Cara. Rollins tries to head toward the back, but he’s blocked by lumberjacks, who drag him back down to the ring. Rollins is hoisted up like he’s crowd surfing, and brought to the ring. Ambrose leaps from the top rope to the floor to wipe out Rollins and the lumberjacks. Ambrose brings things back into the ring and goes for dirty deeds, but Rollins blocks it and hits an enzugiri. Ambrose hits a rebound lariat which is good for two. Ambrose waits for Rollins to stand, talking smack to him. He curb stomps Rollins, sending him face first into the mat for a one count, but Kane is in to break it up. Goldust gets into the ring, but he’s taken down by Kane. Everyone enters the ring and begins brawling, including RVD and Cesaro who fought in the pre-show match. Things whittle down to the Wyatts and Ambrose. Ambrose sends both Harper and Rowan to the floor, but Rollins comes with the the Money in the Bank briefcase, hitting Ambrose in the face. Rollins pins Ambrose for three. Winner: Seth Rollins - Michael Cole talks about Harper and Rowan’s involvement in the previous match, and uses it to segue into the next match. Cole recaps Y2J’s return to WWE 2 months ago, and the fixation that the Wyatt’s have had on Y2J since his return. - We get a recap of Wyatt and Y2J’s face-to-face interview, where Y2J said he’d be shoving buzzards down Wyatt’s throat, and shutting him up for good. The lights go out, and the lantern is lit, as Bray Wyatt lets Los Angeles know that he’s here. Wyatt makes his way out to a sea of cell phones lit up across the entire arena. Chris Jericho is out next, and Y2J gets a great reaction from the LA fans on his way down the aisle. Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho The bell rings, and we get a lock up. Wyatt pushes Y2J in the corner, but Jericho fights out. Jericho hits Wyatt with a forearm to the face to send Wyatt to the apron. Jericho springboards off the middle rope with a shoulderblock to Wyatt on the apron, sending things out to the floor. Jericho does not let up, bringing things back into the ring and heading to the top rope, hitting a cross body for a near fall. Jericho stays on Wyatt in the corner, hitting a boot to the face. Jericho goes to the top, but he’s pushed to the outside by Wyatt, who follows and stomps away at Jericho against the barricade, then slams him into the apron. Wyatt hits a couple of big right hands before seating Jericho against the ring steps and hitting a running knee to Jericho’s face, slamming his head against the steel steps. Wyatt brings things back into the ring and slams Jericho shoulder first into the ring post. Wyatt heads to the outside and hits repeated rights to the side of Jericho’s head while it’s against the ring post. Wyatt charges in and slams Jericho’s head against the post hard before coming back into the ropes and pulling Jericho’s head and neck into the middle rope hard by yanking his arm. Wyatt clamps on a modified rear chin lock, trapping Jericho’s arm. Jericho fights to his feet, but Wyatt takes him back down to the mat hard. Jericho still won’t quit, fighting back up to his feet again. Wyatt sends Jericho into the ropes, and Jericho fights back with a couple of chops, and a running forearm. Jericho connects with an enzugiri, but it’s only good enough for a one count. Jericho runs into the corner, and he’s backdropped to the apron. Jericho climbs to the top and leaps over Wyatt, but eats a clothesline from Wyatt. Bray connects with a senton, but can only get a two count. Wyatt clotheslines Jericho in the corner, but then runs into a big kick from Jericho that puts Wyatt down for two. Jericho kicks Wyatt in the side, then face, but he runs into a big urunage from Wyatt for two. Wyatt mounts Jericho and punches him in the face, then psychs himself up for a bit. Wyatt tries for sister Abigail, but Jericho counters into a roll up, then the Walls of Jericho. Wyatt struggles, but eventually makes it to the ropes to break the hold. Wyatt tosses Jericho to the outside, and follows to the apron. Wyatt connects with a DDT on the apron, bringing things back into the ring for another two count. Wyatt connects with a big head butt, then drags Jericho over to the corner. Wyatt seats himself on the top rope, and stands on the middle. Jericho stops him, and heads to the top rope, hitting a couple of big rights before connecting with a top rope hurricanrana. Jericho crawls over into a cover, getting another two count. Wyatt stands in the corner and eats a clothesline from Jericho. Wyatt sends Jericho into the corner. Jericho ducks a clothesline and connects with a low dropkick. Jericho gets to his feet, and Wyatt pops up in the spider walk. Jericho backs away from Wyatt and looks shocked. Wyatt tells Jericho that he can’t die, because he’s already dead. Jericho connects with the code breaker, but Wyatt kicks out at two. Jericho kicks Wyatt out of the ring. Jericho hits the ropes, and misses a missile dropkick. Wyatt gets a shot in to Jericho’s throat with his thumb before hitting sister Abigail, sending Jericho face first into the ringside barricade. Wyatt brings things back into the ring, picking Jericho up and hitting sister Abigail again. Wyatt pins Jericho for the three count. Winner: Bray Wyatt Wyatt is on the mic and the lights are out. He says Jericho did find out what it means to follow the buzzards. Wyatt begins singing ‘the whole world’, and the fans join right along. - After a brief commercial, Cole, Lawler and JBL turn their attention to Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon. They recap the events leading up to this match, beginning when Brie quit back at Payback in June. Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella Stephanie McMahon is the first woman to the ring for the next match, sporting a pretty interesting, elaborate outfit for a one-off match. Brie Bella is out next, and she gets a nice little pop out of the fans. The bell rings and we get a lock up. Stephanie takes Brie into the corner, pulling her hair before breaking. Another lock up, and Stephanie pushes Brie into the ropes, bending her back against the middle rope. Stephanie breaks the hold, and another lock up leads to Brie tossing Stephanie across the ring. Another lock up and Brie hits an arm drag. Brie goes behind Stephanie with a waist lock, and Stephanie fights her off with a back elbow. Stephanie buries her shoulder in Brie’s midsection in the corner before tossing her down to the mat. Stephanie kicks at Brie’s midsection in the corner before slamming her face down into the mat. Stephanie hits a couple of big forearms, then tosses Brie across the ring before mocking Daniel Bryan’s yes chants. Stephanie goes for a slap, but Brie blocks and slaps Stephanie across the face. Brie tries for the yes lock, but Stephanie is able to scramble to the outside. Brie hits the ropes and goes to dive through, but Stephanie hits her with a big clubbing blow, and Brie crumples to the arena floor. Brie makes it into the ring by 9, and Stephanie hits an immediate DDT. Brie kicks out of a cover at two. Stephanie drops a knee into Brie’s back, then hits a short-arm clothesline. Stephanie drags Brie around by he hair, asking who ‘her bitch’ is, before leaping over Brie and snapping her neck down toward the mat. Stephanie pins Brie for another two count, then wrenches back, holding Brie’s arms while pushing on her back with her foot. Stephanie kicks Brie to the mat and steps on Brie’s face, then wrenches away at her arms again. Brie fights up to her feet, and Stephanie pulls her down to the mat. Brie kicks Stephanie in the head a couple of times, sending her away. Stephanie waits for Brie to stand, and Brie connects with the Thesz press as Stephanie runs in, hitting a couple of right hands as well. Stephanie ends up in the corner, eating a series of kicks to the stomach from Brie. Brie tosses Stephanie across the ring, then stomps away at her in the corner. Brie hits another series of kicks to the stomach, and tosses Stephanie across the ring by her hair once more. Brie goes to the middle rope and hits a missile dropkick, pinning Stephanie for a two count. Stephanie tries to make it to the outside, but Brie stops her and slams her to the mat, hitting her with a series of right hands. Triple H runs down from the back, followed closely by Nikki Bella. In the ring, Brie is distracted and Stephanie almost hits the pedigree, but Brie reverses into the yes lock. Hunter pulls the ref from the ring. Brie hits the ropes and dives through the bottom and middle rope with a dropkick, wiping out Triple H on the floor. Nikki heads into the ring, and Stephanie begs off, but backs right into Brie. Nikki pulls Stephanie to the mat and hits Brie with a big forearm. Stephanie smiles as she’s helped to her feet by Nikki. Nikki heads to the outside and Stephanie picks Brie up for a pedigree. Stephanie pushes Brie’s face to the side disrespectfully. Hunter and Stephanie embrace and kiss while Stephanie stands over Brie and Nikki backs up the ramp, looking at the events in the ring. Stephanie kisses a couple of kids in the front row (her daughters maybe?), then walks up the ramp with Hunter, raising her arm in victory at the top of the ramp. - After another commercial, Michael Cole says he can understand Seth Rollins turning on the Shield, but he can’t understand Nikki Bella turning on her sister. Lawler says she sold out, just like Rollins. Cole talks for a bit about a competition run by WWE and Totino’s. One fan won a competition to be trained at the Performance Center. A fan with the alter ego ‘Mama’s Boy’, and we get a movie-trailer like video package about his ‘training’, and ‘debut’ at WWE NXT. ‘Mama’s Boy’ is shown sitting in the audience. - Randy Orton’s music hits, and thankfully we’re back to some actual wrestling, as the Viper makes his way to the ring for the next match. We get a recap of Orton wrecking Reigns and putting him down with an RKO on the announcer’s table. Reigns’ music hits, and the former Shield member makes his way down to the ring through the crowd, getting a nice pop on his way to the ring. Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns The bell rings, and Reigns and Orton stare each other down. Reigns connects with a big right hand, then another, and a head butt. Orton sends Reigns into the ropes, but Reigns hits another head butt. Orton bails to the floor, and Reigns is quick to follow. Reigns brings things back into the ring, shrugs off a knee to the chest, and sends Orton to the mat. Reigns mounts Orton in the corner, but Orton fights him off. Reigns tries again, but still can’t keep Orton in the corner. Reigns clotheslines Orton over the top rope and to the outside. Reigns heads to the floor and fights Orton around the ring, but ends up whipped into the ring steps, colliding with them hard. Orton sends Reigns into the ring and covers him for a one count. Orton puts Reigns right into a rear chin lock and clamps down. Reigns fights up to his feet and sends Orton into the ropes. Orton slams Reigns down to the mat, grabbing his hair and pulling him down. Orton stomps down on Reigns hand and ankle. Orton hits the ropes and tries for a knee drop, but Reigns rolls out of the way. Orton sends Reigns into the corner, but runs into a boot from Reigns. Reigns heads to the top, but he’s stopped by Orton. Orton sets Reigns up for a superplex, climbing up after him. Orton gets Regins in position, standing on the top, and hits a giant superplex. Orton pins Reigns, but Reigns kicks out at two. Orton goes right into another rear chin lock, wrenching back and wearing down Reigns further. Orton leans back in the hold, refusing to let up. Reigns tries to fight it off, standing and pushing Orton into the ropes. Reigns clamps on a sleeper hold and jumps on Orton’s shoulders, but Orton falls back first to the mat to break the hold. Reigns pops up and clamps on another sleeper hold, but Orton fights up to his feet and hits a belly to back suplex to break the hold and score a near fall. Orton traps Reigns in another rear chin lock, continuing to chip away at Reigns. Reigns stands and fights Orton off, hitting a Samoan drop out of nowhere. Both men stay down on the mat for a bit, and get to their feet swinging. Both men connect with right hands and kicks. Orton sends Reigns into the ropes and Reigns hits a running clothesline, then another in the corner. Reigns hits Orton with a right hand that sends him down on the bottom rope. Reigns heads out to the floor and leaps up to the apron with a kick to the side of Orton’s head. Reigns sends Orton into the barricade, but when he tries to do it a second time, Orton turns things around and sends Reigns crashing into the barricade. Orton sends Reigns crashing into the ring post, then brings things back into the ring for a near fall. Orton tosses Reigns back to the outside, and follows closely. Reigns hits a belly to back suplex, planting Reigns on the announcer’s table without dismantling it. Orton sends Reigns crashing into the ring steps, then brings things back into the ring. Reigns is able to snap Orton’s head and neck down on the top rope, stopping him in his tracks. Reigns brings things into the corner, where he climbs up the rope with Orton. Reigns stands on the middle rope with Orton, but Orton fights Reigns off, sending him to the mat. Reigns hits Orton with a big right hand to stun him. Reigns shoulders Orton and stands on the middle rope, hitting a Samoan drop from the middle. Reigns crawls over and pins Orton for another two count. Reigns gets to his feet and backs up into the corner. Reigns drops to a knee and runs in, hitting Orton with a superman punch. Reigns backs into the corner again, waiting for Orton to stand. Reigns runs right into a GIANT powerslam from Orton that’s good for a near fall for Orton. Reigns crawls out to the apron and Orton gets him into position, hitting the suspension DDT from the middle rope back into the ring. Orton drops to the mat and begins calling for the RKO. Orton tries for the RKO, but Reigns fights it off. Reigns leaps up into the air for a leaping clothesline, or something, and leaps right into an RKO. Orton goes for the pin, but Reigns kicks out at two. Orton stands over Reigns, looking down at him before backing into the corner. Orton waits for Reigns to get into position, but he misses the punt. Reigns pops up and connects with the spear, putting Orton down for three. Winner: Roman Reigns Reigns celebrates in the ring before we get a promo for SummerSlam 2015 which will take plan in New York/New Jersey, and outside of LA for the first time in six years. - The announcers shill for WWE Network again, which they’ve also been doing not-so-subtley during the matches. - Now it’s time to turn our attention to the main event of the evening, and we get a video package highlighting what Brock Lesnar has accomplished since the last time Cena and Lesnar met at Extreme Rules a couple of years ago, of course including beating the Undertaker and ending the streak at WrestleMania. World Heavyweight Championship John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar Brock Lesnar is the first man to make his way to the ring, of course accompanied by Paul Heyman. Lesnar leaps up to the ring apron, pyro going off in the process. Lesnar gets an ok reaction from the fans. The boos start before the music, and John Cena makes his way to the ring with a mixed reaction, and a stoic look on his face. Justin Roberts performs formal ring introductions for both men, and we’re ready for our main event. The bell rings and Cena charges in, throwing wild punches in the corner. Lesnar rolls through on the ground, hitting Cena with a couple of stiff rights. Lesnar shoulders Cena right away and hits the F5, going for the cover and getting a two count right away. Lesnar stands over Cena and screams at him, saying he’s going to kill him. Lesnar kicks at Cena’s face. Cena uses Lesnar to pull himself up. Lesnar pulls Cena around and hits a huge German suplex, launching Cena across the ring. Lesnar says Cena’s going to learn the hard way. Lesnar pulls Cena up and hits another German suplex, sending Cena from corner to corner on top of his head. Lesnar stands over Cena, disrespectfully wiping his boot on Cena’s head. Lesnar buries his knee in Cena’s midsection. Cena feebly throws a punch, but Lesnar puts him right back down to the mat. Cena grabs at his ribs in pain. Lesnar picks Cena up and hit a quick suplex, sending Cena crashing into the mat once more. Cena backs Lesnar into the corner and throws wild punches into Lesnar’s gut, but Lesnar comes back with a couple of knees to Cena’s ribs, sending Cena back to the mat, clutching his sides. Lesnar mounts Cena and digs in with a rear chin lock, wrenching Cena’s neck. Cena fights up to his feet, and hits a couple of elbows, but Lesnar slams Cena down to the mat on the back of his head. Lesnar hits Cena with another knee to the side, and Cena’s gasping for air. Cena gets to his feet and scores with a flurry of rights, but another knee to the stomach, and a clubbing blow to the back stops Cena cold. Lesnar stands on Cena’s hand, then stomps down hard on his fingers. Lesnar hits another German suplex, planting Cena on his head. Lesnar stalks Cena and hits a second, then third German suplex. Lesnar hits one more German for four total, six since the beginning of the match, and JBL calls for the referee to stop the match. Lawler says not to count out Cena. Lesnar pins Cena mockingly, and only gets two. Lesnar buries a knee in Cena’s side. Lesnar stands and kicks at Cena’s face. Lesnar picks Cena up and hit another German suplex. The ref checks on Cena, asking if he’s ok. Cena looks out of it, grabbing Lesnar to pull himself up. Lesnar launches Cena with another German suplex. Lesnar looks down at Cena and smiles. Cena pulls himself up, and Lesnar goes for another German, but Cena fights back with a series of elbows. Cena hits a couple of big clotheslines out of nowhere. Lesnar shoulders Cena, but Cena fights out. Cena shoulders Lesnar and hits the AA, going for the pin and getting a two count. Heyman looks spent on the outside, clutching his head in his hands. Lesnar sits up and he’s laughing while Cena’s recovering in the corner. Lesnar hops from side to side, calling Cena out and telling him to stand up. Cena runs into a takedown from Lesnar. Lesnar mounts Cena and punches down repeatedly, landing blows to Cena’s side, and the side of Cena’s head. Lesnar tells the ref to ask him, and Heyman calls for the ref to ring the bell. Lesnar hits another German suplex and doesn’t let go, hitting a second, third and fourth German suplex all in a row. Lesnar tells the ref to ask him, and Heyman calls for the ref to ring the bell. Lesnar screams at Cena to ‘DIE’, it’s very reminiscent of his match with Eddie Guerrero. Lesnar stands over Cena, picking him up for another series of German suplexes, hitting three this time. Lesnar tells the ref to ask Cena again. The ref looks close to calling it, but he checks on Cena once more. Cena tells him not to stop the match, and while Lesnar argues with the ref, Cena sweeps the leg and traps Lesnar in the STF, wrenching back hard. Lesnar rolls over and rains down with a series of right hands. Lesnar shoulders Cena and hits the F5, pinning Cena and scoring the three count. Winner and NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Brock Lesnar Lesnar holds both title belts high while Heyman bows down and fans look on shocked. Heyman and Lesnar strut to the back with Lesnar wearing a title over each shoulder. Cena is still laid out in the ring, recovering from a pretty convincing beating, and a ridiculous 16 German suplexes over the course of the match. Trainers check on Cena in the ring and Lesnar walks to the back with his newly won championship, and the show fades to black.
